Sangha Life

1. Midday Offering

Far and wide the bell’s pure sound extends,
To Buddhas, Bodhisattvas our reverence bends.
Sincere offerings of rice, porridge and fine meals,
with care we tend,
Tiny deeds, where merit’s seeds ascend.

Preparing Offerings with Reverence

With a heart of reverence, vegetables and fruits are washed three times. Each dish is prepared with care and mindfulness, bringing immeasurable merit and wisdom.

Offering food to the Buddha and the Sangha is a rare and accessible way for sentient beings to cultivate merit. Every day, meals are prepared with devotion — fruits must be washed, cut, and beautifully arranged — and then sincerely offered to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
